Just a reminder of my office hours!

This weeks I Love You Ritual - Twinkle Twinkle Little Star.

I chose to perform this with Zoe and of course there may be some oops, but I thought it might make you smile. It is really helpful to do this with another person. I will attach a link in the comments showing two adults performing this.

Show me your best Twinkle Twinkle!!!

From Dr. Becky Bailey Founder of Conscious Discipline:
"I Love You Rituals are structured connecting activities that include eye contact, touch, presence and playfulness. Families benefit from I Love You Rituals at bedtime, morning routine, before or after meals, when saying goodbye, while on the diapering table, and more."

RAZ-kids

Dear Families,

I assigned some tasks on education.com - I did this as whole group today, but next week I will differentiate tasks on that site. I also signed everyone up for RAZ-Kids the login for that is as follows:

  • Go to https://www.raz-kids.com
  • Hit Kids Login
  • halvorsend1 or halvorsend2 is the teacher username (some kids are under the first username, some under the second)
  • Find your username and login with your google password (reach out to me if you need it)

Raz kids is a site where books are leveled at the students individual reading level and in order to go up in levels, the students need to pass the first set of books! :)

Youtube video on weekly remote schedule and Seesaw:

4-10-20

Dear families,

Ready or not we're starting our remote learning on Monday!!! I wanted to post this to give you a basic outline of what it will look like weekly. Please reach out to me if you have any questions.

  • Seesaw will be our learning platform. If you haven't already PLEASE try to log in to Seesaw. I have posted a practice lesson for you to try.
  • I will be posting assignments via Seesaw on Sunday evenings. You will have access to them for the entire week. The assignments will show up in your Seesaw account.
  • Along with Seesaw you will be using Lexia/I-ready and Education.com
  • I will be posting a weekly schedule to your student's Seesaw account, and to the daily SACS announcements. I will also post the schedule weekly on this site. This schedule will highlight, reading, writing and math for the week. You have the flexibility to pick and choose what you'd like to work on during the week (ex. Monday=Math and I-ready, Tuesday=lexia/seesaw, etc.) You may also choose to do everything in one day, but keep in mind there will be no new assignments until the week is complete.
  • I will offer optional activities for your student if you run out of things to do. I will make it clear on the 'have-to's' for assignments and the 'optional' ones.
  • My office hours are as follows:

Please let me know if you have any questions about the information above. I realize this can be overwhelming, but I am here to help!

Erie Elementary Chapter 10!

03/30/20

Good Afternoon Friends and Families,

I hope you are all doing well and staying healthy. Here is a link to some awesome science things through Nasa. I am upset I am not able to teach about space/stars/planets, but I found this cool resource to share. I will also add it to our helpful links site. There are lots of crafts you can make.

As you may know we are brainstorming ways to teach remotely, but there has been nothing set in stone yet. I will keep you updated on information as I get it. We are supposed to hear our expectations soon.

For future notice I will be setting up Zoom video call hours. I will make one hour in the morning available and one hour in the afternoon for times you can video me asking questions, etc. If the times I provide do not work please reach out to me. I am always accepting emails and I'd love to see some photos! Also, please feel free to text or call Monday through Friday from 7:30-3:30 PM - Again if these times do not work please reach out to me so we can set something up.

You are missed!

Mrs. Dupont

3/27/20

Good Morning Friends and Family,

It is with a heavy heart to see that our school will not be returning for the rest of the school year. I would like you to know how deeply sadden I am of this, but I also want you to know how hard I will continue to work on providing instruction remotely. I have been brainstorming ways to teach remotely and continue education. I will be in touch soon with new information about this change.

Remember, we are all in this together.

I am wishing you all well.

03/25/20

Good Morning friends and families,

As promised I am giving you an update on the meeting I sat in on this morning. As you may or may not know the governor is enforcing stricter restrictions to the state and that also means the school is going to get tighter restrictions for building access.

From what I gathered from that meeting academics should NOT be done all-day, every day. The work packet(s) I provided should have enough work in it for 2-3 weeks or more. At this point and time we have been asked to only maintain contact with you for check ins and not provide additional academic work.

If this order goes beyond April 6th - which is likely due to the new orders from the governor - then we'll have to plan for more remote learning opportunities. Please keep in mind teachers are still working with administrators on coming up with ways to prepare to teach remotely, prepare work etc. I am thankful to be at school every day assisting with the on-site meals, so I hear a lot of what's to come. We are unsure of what everything looks like at this time, but we are definitely working around the clock to come up with different ways to teach remotely. As of right now we are only asked to contact you and check-in, and to not provide more work packets.

With that being said, Internet access is going to be essential for remote learning. I know there are lots of specials/promos being offered right now for internet that might be helpful to look into if you do not have internet access. Please feel free to reach out to me and I might be able to assist you with some ideas/programs I've heard of. I will also send those of you that have internet access more work to do on education.com

Lastly, I am setting up office hours - You are welcome to contact me via text/call/email between the times of 7:30 AM - 3:30 PM on weekdays. Please do not contact me after 3:30 PM unless you send me an email. If you need special times to contact me (after 3:30 PM) please reach out to me and we can work something out. I will not be contacting you on the weekends, and I ask that you do the same for me, unless it's an email. This is to ensure the well being, self care and health of every party involved.

Again, thank you for understanding and doing everything you can during this time of stress and uncertainty. I am wishing you all well and to stay healthy. I will update you on more information as I get it.

Education.com Update

03/20/20

Hello friends and families,

I have updated our education.com website and assigned assignments for students to work on. The students will not be able to play games until these assignments are complete as they are mandatory. The assignments are differentiated based on students level.  Please let me know if your student does not have an assignment assigned to them.

Below is also chapter 9 of Erie Elementary and a link to a youtube video to help with characters, setting and plot!

Enjoy and have a great weekend!

You are missed 1st grade explorers!

Meals

03/19/20

There has been a lot of confusion about meals and when they are starting, what time, etc. I am volunteering at the on-site meal service where you can stop by the gym doors and food will be run out to you between 11:00-12:30 every weekday. You will receive lunch for the day and breakfast for the morning. We are also delivering food to each bus stop. The stops for city are between 10:30-11:30, and town between 11:30-12:30. Food CANNOT be left at a door step and must be picked up in person at the bus stops, or on site service. You will have to try to see what time the bus goes by and it will be around the same time every weekday that it will deliver food for you. This is something we've never had to do before so please be patient! We are working as hard as we can to ensure smooth transitions in this time of stress!

If you have more questions feel free to check out the SACS website, or call City School.

Please enjoy Erie Elementary chapter 8! It's been a while....

03/19/20

 Dear Families,

We have been asked to begin our contact with you today. I will be texting or emailing you to try to set up times/days that work best for you. It has been asked that I contact you Daily via phone. Please take a moment, if you see this before I contact you, to fill out your contact information under the contact tab on this site. You can shoot me a quick email under the contact tab stating your name, the best contact number, the time of day and the days you would like to be contacted. If you’d rather text me thats perfectly fine too. I will be a volunteer for the on-site food group beginning today, so if I dont get right back to you, thats why.

-Mrs. Dupont

03/18/20

Dear families,

It's been almost 24 hours since we left the school, and I miss each and every one of my students. In order to flip our movement to remote teaching I am giving you access to this blog. Under helpful links you will find oodles of information for continual learning, and I'M STILL ADDING MORE! I will be updating this blog as much as possible with new educational things during our time away. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have and I will try to answer you ASAP,  but know information is always changing, and I am very limited on what I know. I will also be assisting at SACS with the on-site meal team, so my time away from school isn't really away from school, as I am choosing to still offer my help to our community. I hope this passes soon, so I can be back doing what I love and being with your children.

You may send me emails under the contact link. I will also be providing a texting number, so if you'd like to reach out you may text me as well.

Stay Healthy!

-Mrs. Dupont
